Kunjal Parnami

Bachelor Student

I am an undergraduate student at IISER Pune, and I am exploring my interests within neuroscience. I am particularly interested in the mechanisms of short-term memory storage. How does the brain encode information as persistent firing, and how is this persistent activity maintained over multiple seconds?

Larval zebrafish are a great model for exploring this. They carry out a bunch of interesting behaviours, one of which is the optomotor response. One component that participates in the optomotor response is the temporal evidence integrator in the zebrafish hindbrain. I use simple network models to explore the persistent activity it displays.

I also enjoy reading novels (especially of the sci-fi variety), and painting.
