Maximilian Stahlsmeier

Exchange Master Student (Bielefeld)

After completing my A–levels I knew I wanted to study. The thing I was most interested in was understanding human behavior the way they do. However, I quickly realized that human behavior is not only fascinating but also incredibly complex.
This realization led me to animals where our understanding about how they behave is even more limited and with animals I have even more opportunities to look directly inside the brain. To me this is something I always wanted to do. Early in my studies I came across bumblebees, these creatures, apart from being incredibly cute are way smarter than we thought. I did a lot of behavior experiments on them all revolving around navigation.
Now I am using my master’s studies to branch out and look at a lot of different topics. With a particular focus on the brain and that’s why I am here.
